Our web case is focusing on the city of Seattle, WA, more specifically, the sports in the greater Seattle area. Seattle is considered one of the cleanest cities in the United States, while also being one of the major sports hubs in the U.S.. Our group’s love of sports brought us together, so we found it fitting to base our web case on a sustainable sports city. Although we stated our focus is on sports, it is more targeted towards the stadiums and organizations of these sport teams. As most people know, sports organizations make a large sum of money, and with that comes a large sum of pollution and waste. Our area of focus for this web case is in the ways that sports organizations, and their stadiums, are working towards being environmentally friendly and aligned with the four conditions of just sustainabilities.
Seattle’s sports stadiums and organizations have made significant progress in promoting sustainability through eco-friendly actions and waste-management initiatives. However, more efforts are needed to reach higher levels of sustainability to counteract large corporations that aren’t changing their ways.
